Get R.E.A.L. (Reconocer. Comprometerse. Afirmar. Amar.) California es una iniciativa para mejorar la competencia y la capacidad de las organizaciones de bienestar infantil y para promover el desarrollo sexual y de identidad saludable de todos los niños involucrados con el sistema de bienestar infantil de California. Liderado por Family Builders by Adoption, es parte del proyecto nacional getREAL que es una colaboración con el Centro de Estudios de Políticas Sociales (CSSP).

Get R.E.A.L. California trabaja para desarrollar e integrar un marco de orientación sexual e identidad / expresión de género (SOGIE) en las iniciativas estatales actuales en colaboración con el Departamento de Servicios Sociales de California y los condados. Hasta la fecha, las iniciativas han incluido la reforma del Continuum of Care, la implementación del acuerdo conciliatorio Katie A., Socios de California para la Permanencia y el Modelo de Práctica Básica de Bienestar Infantil de California. El proyecto dirige un grupo asesor para el departamento de servicios sociales; ha desarrollado herramientas y recursos para el campo para promover ambientes afirmativos y brinda consultas y asistencia técnica para el estado y los condados.

Get R.E.A.L. California apoya la implementación de nuevas regulaciones estatales para mejorar el bienestar de los jóvenes LGBTQ + y de género expansivo que participan en el sistema de bienestar infantil. Esas nuevas regulaciones incluyen pero no se limitan a AB 731 y AB 2119.

Además, getR.E.A.L. California ofrece talleres y capacitación a nivel estatal y nacional para que las organizaciones comprendan y creen programas inclusivos de SOGIE interseccionales.
